IT Project Blog Staff Feeling Stretched

NuWave's IT Project Blog has gained popularity since its launch less than two months ago, but faces the challenge of an increasing demand for content. With only one part-time author and a new webinar series approaching, NuWave is considering taking on more authors so that it can post to the blog more frequently.
June 14, 2010--NuWave Technologies' IT Project Blog went public not even two months ago, on April 22nd, but it already has two tools, several videos and a variety of articles for project managers. Since some of this content takes time to produce, and because interest in the blog is growing so much, NuWave is considering taking on more authors to fulfill the demand for more frequent posts.
Kathlika Thomas, the author of the blog, is only a part-time NuWave employee, which limits the amount of content that she can produce for the blog. This is especially true now that she is also preparing a series of webinars to be held under the IT Project Blog umbrella. Each event requires her to write and finalize a script, create a compelling powerpoint with visuals, and of course do a practice run--all of which chips away at her 20 hours a week. The first webinar, “Improve Your Projects: Learning From Past Mistakes”, will be held later this month. Although Thomas and the rest of NuWave are excited about the increasing interest in the site, the demand is putting pressure on the blog to expand its workforce.
This pressure, although strong, is not the only driving force behind the need for expansion. The changes are also being brought on by the overall goals of the IT Project Blog: to improve the outcomes of IT projects and to assist project managers in the most difficult aspects of their jobs. With the addition of more authors, NuWave will be able to post more content each week, expanding the value for its readers and bringing it closer to achieving its goals.
Although the frequency of posts, as well as the type of content, etc., will always be influenced by the readers, their requests will not alone determine changes to the blog; other factors, including budget and resources, need to be considered. However, whether or not the IT Project Blog brings on more paid authors, NuWave plans to allow and encourage guest articles from other bloggers, which should provide enough content for the company to double the number of posts per week. If successful, this will increase the value for the blog's readership and for NuWave's budget.
